1. Applicants must reside in the Merseyside region
and the transport provision for the event or promotion must be held
in the Merseyside region.
2. Any application that contravenes Merseytravel's Equal Opportunities
Policy will be automatically debarred. Applicants may be asked for
further details of their Equal Opportunities Policy. (The Merseytravel
policy is set out as Note 1).
3. Funding must be for a 'charitable' purpose. (The definition of
this is set out as Note 2).
4. No funding will be provided by Merseytravel for any purposes
that are already provided for by virtue of statute (the definition
of this is set out as Note 3).
5. Funding must relate to a transport based project.
6. Applicants must apply in writing (on letter headed note paper),
giving full details of their organisation, the event under consideration,
the help required and the total funding required from all sources.
7. Full supporting information concerning the organisation must
be provided.
8. Organisations in receipt of sponsorship must acknowledge the
Merseytravel Community Links Access Team in publicity relating to
the event or promotion or on a vehicle or facility provided by Merseytravel.
(Further details of this are set out as in Note 4).
9. Other than in exceptional circumstances, sponsorship for any
one particular event or promotion will not exceed £300.
10. Actual amounts of sponsorship will be at the discretion of Merseytravel.

for hiring a vehicle or providing materials, up to the amount of
£300.
12. At least one month's notice must be given regarding a funding
request.
13. Sponsorship applies to the organisation making the request not
the individual events or promotions that they are organizing. Organisations
may only make one application for sponsorship in any one financial
year (taken as 1 April to 31 March). No application for funding
in the new financial year will be considered before 1 March of the
preceding financial year.
14. Merseytravel will clearly set out the terms under which sponsorship
has been agreed, including the need for acknowledgement of sponsorship
set out in Guideline 8.
15. Merseytravel will clearly state the reasons for any unsuccessful
application and will only accept a resubmission if an application
was unsuccessful due to non-compliance with the guidelines and the
resubmission complies with the guidelines.
16. Merseytravel will not enter into debate about any unsuccessful
application or accept appeals. Merseytravel's decision is final
other than in those cases resubmitted under Guideline 15.
17. Merseytravel will require the recipient of funding to sign an
agreement, which details the event or promotion for which the sponsorship
is to be used and any failure to use such sponsorship for that event
or promotion will result in actions for recovery being taken by
Merseytravel against the organisations or individuals concerned.
18. All applications will be dealt with strictly on the basis of
the above Guidelines on a 'first come' basis, until such time as
budgetary provision for sponsorship has been used up. Such budgetary
provision may change from year to year.
